CANDID is delighted to present the first release on the elusive and long sought after WHY NOT label. Starting in 1975, the visionary Masahiko Yuh, Japanese producer and writer, created his own label to record artists in the burgeoning avant garde scene in the United States. Several of the artists had connections with the ground breaking Chicago musicians co-operative A.A.C.M. and they and others recorded by Yuh have gone on to become established names in the jazz lexicon. The WHY NOT recordings are a priceless testament of this exciting seventies era in the ever unfolding story of jazz.
