Biography:
It hasn't always been bright lights and show business for Lezlie Anders. She traded the boardroom for the stage in 1988 when she returned to music after 15 years engaged in corporate life.
Combining business acumen with talent she produced a long running variety revue in Portland, Oregon and organized and fronted the Roseland Dance Orchestra. It is with this Orchestra that Lezlie performed for the The President of the United States. She also hosted a weekly radio show combining jazz and talk radio and wrote a monthly column for a popular entertainment publication.
Moving to Las Vegas in 1992 she began an eighteen month engagement at the Desert Inn's Starlight Theatre. It was on that stage that she met Buddy Greco. Since then their partnership prospered and led directly into an acclaimed world tour, on which she appears as Buddy's opening act.
On this, Lezlie's first solo album are included such notables as Buddy Greco, Joe Lano, Don Menza and Carl Fontana. She sings Porter, Gershwin, Mercer and Arlen like only a woman who has lived the lyrics can. Her interpretation is sensual and sincere and her warm feeling for each of the songs she performs gives them a new kind of life.
This collection of songs will show you Lezlie's great diversity. Her favourite standards are here, but pay close attention to Artie Butler's "Here's To Life," and Ann Hampton Calloway's "At The Same Time," and "Perfect."
Lezlie has a sound that does not belong to anyone else. Even though her style is reminiscent of her idols, Peggy Lee, Nancy Wilson and Julie London, she is an original. Listen to her phrasing and the beautiful resonance of her low register, which is so unusual for a singer who has more than three octaves at her command. Sit back, relax and listen to Lezlie!
