Biography:

Acclaimed By critics as both a talented musician and composer, Steve Hobbs name is synonymous with vibes and Marimba. Steve has performed and recorded in major cities across the US with such players as Tom Harrell, John Patitucci, Kenny Blake, Alan Broadbent, Stix Hooper, Bob Sheppard, Joe La Barbera, Spike Robinson and many more. The South Carolina native’s music career is as good a road map of jazz influenced styles, as you’re likely to find. While a student at Berkley College, he won his bopper’s stripes. Later in Florida, where he earned a Master’s degree at the University of Miami, Hobbs was exposed to heavy doses calypso, reggae, Afro-Cuban styles, R&B and Brazilian Music. At the heart of Hobbs’ sound is an unbending love of improvisation and those solid bebop roots.
