Cal Massey - Blues for Coltrane
[CCD 79029]

Cal Massey - Blues for Coltrane
In January 1961, Producer Nat Hentoff gave Cal Massey his first date, and as it turned out, his only change to record under his own name. Sadly the session was lost for many years an only an edited 'Father and Son' every appeared on the Candid album titled "Jazz Life" (Candid CCD 79019).

Here at long last, is the missing date in its entirety. Calvin "Cal" Massey plays trumpet and his sidemen were Julius Watkins (French Horn), Hugh Brodie (tenor sax), Patti Brown (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and G.T. Hogan (drums).
